RHYMNEY

Rhymney is a renowned former iron-making and mining town. In addition to its proud industrial past, it has also a remarkable cultural heritage producing musicians and poets, the most famous of which is Idris Davies.

The Rhymney area referred to here in the IWN comprises the town of Rhymney itself, together with the adjacent communities of Pontlottyn and Abertysswg, as well as the village of Fochriw at the head of the parallel Darran valley.

The combined population is approximately 10,000.
