'Greater Bargoed' comprises Bargoed, Aberbargoed and Gilfach with a combined population of approximately 12,000. The area has a proud mining heritage. In recent years, much of the area has seen quite radical land reclamation and landscaping further to the demise of the coal industry.
For the purposes of the local IWN, the nearby village of Deri in the lower part of the Darran Valley has been included in the Greater Bargoed area.

Some places such as community centres are still not functioning as they were due to COVID and the restrictions that were pit in place. We are working with colleagues to see how these can be supported and enhanced moving forward.
AREA WELLBEING COLLECTIVE MEETINGS
Prior to the pandemic, collective workshops at IWN meetings identified wellbeing priorities as shown here
We will be revisiting these in light of our Post-COVID wellbeing report (click here) based on dedicated IWN meetings held in all focus areas.
